Horsehead Nebula

The iconic Horsehead Nebula is a small dark nebula in the Orion constellation situated approximately 1,500 light years away from Earth.  The nebula is located just to the south of Alnitak, the east-most star of Orion’s Belt, and is part of the much larger Orion molecular cloud complex. Below Alnitak is the Flame Nebula, at the centre of which is a cluster of newly formed stars.
